Chapter 200 - 193: Kill 1

Throughout the Wu Family’s movements, Lin Fei never relaxed for a moment.

He and the Wu Family were inevitably in a hostile relationship. The Divine Artifact components in the possession of the Wu Family were essential for him to obtain. Even though he had now realized that his own strength was the most powerful and fundamental principle, having achieved enlightenment, the Power of True Lies nonetheless had an enormous impact on him. It could completely allow him to catch up in a short time to those who had been ahead of him for countless years. No matter the means, achieving the goal was the most fundamental. And the True Lies Divine Artifact was clearly the thing that could help Lin Fei the most at this moment. In this world, merely progressing continuously was not enough, because there are many kinds of progress, some people progress quickly, and some slowly. Those who progress quickly might achieve in a few days what takes others years, such an asymmetric rate of progress naturally results in enormous differences in ultimate achievements. And True Lies was an aid that could greatly accelerate one’s own rate of progress, and moreover, the True Force obtained was as pure as that accumulated bit by bit through the hard Cultivation of others. He had once tried absorbing the True Force cultivated by Xu Ruoruo, which integrated into Lin Fei’s True Force Core just as easily as his own, with no side effects whatsoever.

Afterward, Lin Fei analyzed that it must be because the Power of True Lies completely disguised the divided True Force seed, causing Xu Ruoruo’s Cultivation to merely nurture this strand of True Force seed, unable to directly contact the True Force Core, with the mark’s Aura of Lin Fei himself never erased, thus resulting in such an effect.

This also caused Lin Fei’s desire for the Power of True Lies to grow even stronger.

And as for the Wu Family, one of the five great families that regarded the True Lies Divine Artifact as vital as life itself, they naturally became an obstacle Lin Fei had to sweep away in front of him.

As for the issue of attracting the attention of the Wu Family’s upper echelons, it was entirely out of consideration.

Now, the entire Wu Family was unstable, facing the opposition of countless forces, experiencing casualties of Dream Eaters every day in conflicts with minor forces. Moreover, with several major forces consolidating their power, a counterattack could happen at any time. They simply couldn’t send too powerful Dream Eaters, and with the restraining power of Blue Flame, even B-ranked Dream Eaters, Lin Fei was not afraid at all. When he had annihilated Dragon Eye, he had used less than one-third of his strength and had instantaneously wiped out many Dream Eaters including Dragon Eye. This fully made him aware of how strong the restraining power of Blue Flame was. Powerful individuals like Dragon Eye, possessing the Power of True Lies, merely came into contact with blue smoke and quickly succumbed. According to Shuang’er’s estimation, even higher-level Dream Eaters would not withstand a hit in front of blue smoke. Within the envelope of Blue Flame, Lin Fei’s power was boosted to an immeasurable extent. Perhaps only high-end Dream Eaters could confront him.

His thoughts flashed by, and Lin Fei came back to his senses.

The round lump of flesh in front of him slowly began to reveal the outline of a human body.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Like a great heart, the whole mass of flesh hung suspended, incessantly pulsating. A thick scent of blood slowly emanated. The ground’s stains and flesh were all absorbed by the blood sphere, leaving it spotlessly clean, with only some scattered clothes remaining.

Lin Fei quietly watched the changes in the blood sphere.

Suddenly feeling a movement in his heart, a surge of information suddenly entered his mind.

"Spatial evolution complete. Psychic Contract transmission complete."

Crack!!

Lin Fei suddenly felt as if something in his brain had shattered. An unimaginable intense pain instantly spread throughout his body. A sequence of fragmented images was forcibly stuffed into his mind.

In a luxurious and soft room.

A woman gently embraced a man. Her delicate hands pressed lightly against his chest.

"Don’t leave me..."

The man’s eyes gleamed with an unnameable sheen.

"As a cultivator of the Sword Dao, how can I be entangled in trifling matters? The world is vast, where can I not roam freely!!"

He abruptly freed himself from the embrace and strode away.

*******************

The surrounding scene quickly receded. Lin Fei’s muscles contorted, his eyes tightly shut. The pain came quickly and left just as quickly, but even now that it had disappeared, his body still suffered waves of residual severe pain.

"What was that scene just now?" He slowly opened his eyes, the blood sphere in front of him still continuously forming a human shape. The surroundings were silent, an odd atmosphere completely enveloping the area, causing all living creatures to steer clear.

Lin Fei carefully recalled the gleam in the man’s eyes. It seemed a bit blurry, but with his current memory, he could clearly see that those were eyes as blue as crystals, containing a familiar Aura.

"That’s the Aura of Divine Beast Meng..." Lin Fei instantly concluded. "Which means, that man was very likely one of the former Sword Masters of the Sword Dao True Solution." To leave a mark within the Sword Dao True Solution, one must be no ordinary person. But why could such a treasured Sword Canon be lost? Such a precious Sword Canon surely wouldn’t be disregarded by anyone.

"Perhaps, the answer will come later." He was not in a hurry, for with more contact, more information would be gained, and one day he would find the answer.

He suddenly immersed his mind into his mind’s world.

Within the Sword Dao True Solution, countless sword techniques, schools, and styles of Sword Techniques densely arrayed before Lin Fei’s eyes.

"If I want to learn the swordsmanship here, what conditions are needed?" Lin Fei inquired.

"Defeat each corresponding level of swordsman, then you may choose to learn or revive." The answer from the Sword Canon was somewhat roundabout.

"How does the swordsman appear?"

"After choosing the swordsmanship, the swordsman will appear."

Lin Fei’s mind stirred. "Is Yuan Yicheng a practitioner of swordsmanship?"

"Yes."

"So, does that mean I can freely choose any swordsmanship here?" Lin Fei continued to ask.

"Yes." The Sword Dao True Solution seemed like an internal database, equipped not only with a function to affirm or negate but also with some basic fuzzy searching and explanatory features.

"Why was my basic trial the April Sword Technique?"

"It appeared randomly."

Lin Fei finally understood. The Sword Dao True Solution was itself a vastly complicated collection of numerous Sword Arts of Killing. It harbored the life marks and such from countless swordsmanship powerhouses and sect styles. By acquiring this sword canon, if one met certain criteria and reached a genuine level of cultivation, it was akin to gaining vast experiences in various sword techniques, as well as sparring partners in swordsmanship. Whether one chose to enhance personal strength or reach the pinnacle of power, transitions could be made at will.

After defeating Yuan Yicheng earlier, the sword canon presented two options. One was to directly learn a sword technique, but Lin Fei immediately skipped this choice. He had always believed that no matter what, building up step by step through personal learning and understanding was the most solid foundation. Furthermore, by resurrecting Yuan Yicheng, he still retained the essence of these sword techniques and could continue learning from him slowly, and having a powerful ally was far better than the seemingly straightforward first option.

He tried choosing a sword technique, simple in name — the Sword Art of Killing. Yet, the introduction indicated that it was a fundamental technique from the Myriad Autumn Sword Sect.

Right after making his selection, the surrounding environment instantly transformed, becoming the previous white space.

A towering warrior, clad in armor that covered him completely leaving not a patch of skin visible, stood opposite him holding a black greatsword as large as a door.

Lin Fei could sense the warrior’s life flame bursting and burning in an almost crazed fashion, his vitality as immense as an elephant’s. Even from a dozen meters away, the powerful beating of his heart was faintly audible.

"Just as I thought," Lin Fei pondered, standing still.

The knight opposite wasted no words, lifting his greatsword and charging like a bulldozer, the entire space seeming to tremble with his steps.

Lin Fei lightly tapped his foot, instantly retreating backwards.

"If I defeat him, perhaps I can face a choice like before. But now is not the time," Lin Fei resolved in his mind, dodging the warrior’s cleave. He immediately left the space with a thought.

Shuang’er carefully poured the chopped carrots into the pot, giving it a few stirs with a spatula. Suddenly, a burnt smell wafted out of the pot.

’Isn’t it that I should stir five minutes after putting them in the pot?’ Shuang’er wondered. She was following the recipe book to the letter, not knowing that the carrots in the pot needed constant stirring during those five minutes. Unfortunately, the book had omitted this detail.

Suddenly, a pleasant ringtone echoed from the bedroom, and Shuang’er hurried in to grab a small pink mobile phone. She pressed the answer button.

"Shuang’er?" Lin Fei’s voice came through the phone.

"Yes."

"Look out your kitchen window. There’s a residential building across."

Shuang’er did as instructed and looked out. The tall building, spanning dozens of floors and clad in a silvery gray, exuded a sleek yet aloof aura.

"See it?"

"I see it."

"The second unit from the left on the fifteenth floor. That’s where your upcoming enemy is located," Lin Fei’s voice was calm. "They are strong. Don’t engage directly, nor let yourself be delayed. With your ability, they can’t keep you."

In the woods.

Lin Fei spoke softly, holding the phone, while a slender figure gradually formed in front of him.

Lin Fei turned away, his back to the slowly materializing figure. "Head to the place we agreed on earlier," Lin Fei instructed through the phone.

"Okay, I’ll leave right away," Shuang’er obediently responded.

After hanging up, Lin Fei turned back around to see Yuan Yicheng, now dressed in a black suit scavenged from the ground. Yuan Yicheng, in his sharp and arrogant attire, looked tall and stern.

"Lord Sword Master," Yuan Yicheng slightly bowed.

"Let’s go," Lin Fei nodded and started walking the way they had come.

Yuan Yicheng, catching sight of the clothes on the ground, frowned slightly in disgust and immediately followed. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welcome to vote and provide monthly tickets at Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation.)
