"Brother Yun, you really helped me this time." Captain Fang said this with a wide smile on his face.
Yun Tian gave a simple nod of acknowledgement in response before saying, "I was just doing what I am supposed to do."
Captain Fang gave an appreciative nod to this before saying, "No, no, it's clearly something amazing. We hadn't been able to find a single trace of those Abyss Demons hiding in the shadows, but you managed to take them out all on your own."
Yun Tian gave another simple nod without saying anything.
However, that didn't bother Captain Fang at all.
Instead, he said with a wide smile, "I'm really curious how you were able to do something like this. I was wondering if you would be willing to share this with me?"
There was a trace of bitterness that filled Yun Tian when he heard this, but he didn't seem surprised by the question that Captain Fang asked.
After all, we had already discussed this earlier.
This was something that was quite easy to predict.
Since we had done something that no one else had done, it was only natural that they would look for the person that had done this and try to get that method from them.
That was why I had Yun Tian pose as the one that had come up with this method in the first place.
Yun Tian was happy to agree to this, though he felt that I should deserve this credit.
But in the end…
"Do you really think that he'll report this as my credit? I think it's very clear what will happen if he finds out that I'm the one that came up with this method."
Yun Tian agreed with a bitter smile on his face, which was why he was the one that was in front of Captain Fang now.
"It's nothing special. It was just that we sensed this strange mana signature and then used my ability in that place."
Captain Fang slightly knitted his brows when he heard this before saying, "We've tried doing the same thing, but we weren't able to find a single thing. Why is it that you were able to find them and we weren't?"
Yun Tian gave a shrug with a casual look on his face before saying, "If I knew the reason, I would tell you. I can only say that we felt something strange and took a chance."
This time, Captain Fang deeply knitted his brows as he said, "Brother Yun, this isn't the time to be joking like this. If you have some kind of special method, it's best if you share it with us so we can deal with these Abyss Demons as soon as possible."
He didn't say share it with the Abyss Guards, he said share it with 'us'.
That made it very clear who he was referring to and why he wanted this information from Yun Tian.
It was clear that Captain Fang wanted to use what he thought was a special method to seize all of the reputation that came with dealing with these Abyss Demons.
He wanted to monopolize all of this for himself, rather than caring about the Abyss Guards.
Only Yun Tian had already given his word.
So he just said with another shrug, "Like I said, there's no special method. We just found the Abyss Demons because of the strange mana signature that we sensed. Nothing more, nothing less."
Captain Fang gave a deep frown this time.
He made no effort to hide his dissatisfaction with Yun Tian's words as he looked carefully at him in an attempt to see if he was serious or not.
But Yun Tian just had the same look on his face.
Trying one more time, Captain Fang leaned in and said, "We've known each other for a long time and our families are quite close. If you help me out this time, I'll pay you back next time for sure."
Yun Tian gave a sigh this time as he said, "I really don't know what to say, there really is no special method."
Hearing this, Captain Fang's face became serious as he said, "Alright, if that's the case, then you'll have to be the ones to do this. Since you're the only ones that can handle this matter, then you'll be heading to the frontlines. I want you to lead the troops to take care of the Abyss Demons."
It was clear that this was a move that was calculated.
This was clearly a punishment disguised as a proper order.
After all, even if Yun Tian was technically the only one that could deal with these sneak attacks, that didn't mean that he had to go to the frontlines. In fact, it was better for him to remain behind the others to deal with these sneak attacks.
The reason why Captain Fang was sending them to the frontline was completely because he wanted them to suffer. He was trying to put them in a difficult situation so that they would give up the special method that he was certain that they had.
Yun Tian shook his head and gave a sigh when he heard this, but he didn't seem surprised.
He had already expected something like this when he made up his mind to tell this to Captain Fang.
Since Captain Fang was the one that was in charge here, there really was nothing that we could do.
Only before we could head out to the frontlines, there was a voice that rang out.
"Now isn't that a waste of their abilities?"
"That's right, it doesn't seem like the best place to utilize the powers that they have."
Looking in the direction of these two voices, we saw two people walking over.
However, they weren't just any normal people.
These two had captain badges on their chests as well.
These two were also captains in the Abyss Guard.
"You two…what are you doing here?" Captain Fang asked in a heavy tone.
