Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Really Want to Take on the Crime of Vomiting for Her Pregnancy
Jun Yuyan didn’t visit the villa many times.
He was never one to indulge in pleasure-seeking.
However, he wanted to make Murong Jiu happier.
The conduct of the Marquis Mansion was shameless, and although she vented her anger, being away from that toxic environment must have helped her forget those so-called family members who only knew how to use her.
It would be best if she didn’t think about it at all and just relaxed at the villa for a few days.
He had heard that a good mood could lessen the effects of morning sickness.
...
She was three months pregnant now. According to Divine Doctor Zhai, her morning sickness started a bit later than most women, and for many, it would gradually subside after the third month.
On the way here, Murong Jiu had vomited once, but she felt better afterward.
Jun Yuyan led her around the villa. After a short walk, he asked her, “Ah Jiu, do you feel any discomfort?”
Murong Jiu chuckled, “Now that I’m at the villa, even breathing feels easier. Prince, don’t worry about me.”
“That’s good to hear. I asked Divine Doctor Zhai, and he mentioned that Ah Jiu used to fish when she was younger. There happens to be a deep pool on the back mountain with fish that are fresh and tender. Would you be interested in fishing?”
Upon hearing this, her eyes lit up.
That’s wonderful!
Counting her previous life, it had been over a decade since she last fished.
So they agreed that after lunch and some rest, they would go fishing together.
With something to look forward to, her spirits were high and joyful, and she ate more than usual at lunchtime.
Jun Yuyan noticed this, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
After the midday rest, Murong Jiu couldn’t wait to go fishing in the back mountain.
Chun Tao smiled and said, “Only the young master knows what the young lady likes. None of us can please you as well as he can.”
Murong Jiu smiled and tapped Chun Tao’s forehead lightly, “You’re the only one who can babble so much.”
“I’m not babbling, I’m speaking the truth. In this world, only the young master and your master care and worry about you the most.”
She paused, her expression slightly stunned. Instinctively, she wanted to argue, but realized that Jun Yuyan’s treatment of her was indeed extremely kind. He always made her feel like she was basking in the warmth of spring, and even… dependable.
It must be an illusion. No matter how reliable Jun Yuyan might be, he wasn’t someone she could depend on.
He was meant to protect his future Princess Consort, not her, a nominal Princess Consort with no real status.
She collected her smile and said to Chun Tao, “In this world, the people who care about me the most are my master and you, silly girl.”
“Of course! You’re the only one I have, young lady. You are my whole world.”
Outside the door, Jun Yuyan’s raised hand slowly lowered.
It was unclear whether it was desolation or disappointment.
When they reached the deep pool, Murong Jiu was captivated by the serene blue of the water; she had not expected it to be so beautiful.
Trees provided shade around it, so even in the bright sun, fishing by the pool wasn’t hot.
And as Jun Yuyan had said, the pool was abundant with plump and tasty fish. As soon as Murong Jiu put down her hook, a fish bit.
Soon after, she caught a fish about half a foot long.
Fishing is just like that; once you catch a fish, the joy is heightened.
The Servant Boy from the villa was specially assigned to bait the hooks and remove the caught fish, ensuring that Murong Jiu did not get the slightest fishy smell on her.
Xiao Wen had never fished before, and he was so excited by the biting fish that he squealed, scaring the fish away. For a while, laughter and cheerful voices surrounded the pool.
After fishing for half an afternoon, the three of them had caught a full bucket of lively fish.
Murong Jiu wasn’t sure about the breed of the fish, with their slender bodies, but there was plenty of meat.
In the evening, the cooks made fish soup with these fish, so delectable it was unbeatable.
Because Murong Jiu liked sour flavors, they also prepared a sauerkraut fish slice dish with the fish meat, Fragrant and fresh, it was a perfect match with rice.
The master and Xiao Wen preferred the fried fish made by the cooks, coated in flour and fried until the outside was crispy and the inside tender. Sprinkled with spices, they found it extremely satisfying to eat.
However, perhaps they had eaten too much in the evening.
In the middle of the night, Murong Jiu suddenly woke up, vomiting so violently that tears streamed down her face.
The noise awoke Jun Yuyan, who threw on a coat and hurried over, his shoes barely on.
But his presence was of no use, for when vomiting, one must empty everything to feel any relief.
Once she finished, Jun Yuyan immediately gave her some warm water to drink.
Murong Jiu took a few sips, but as soon as she swallowed, she vomited again, her eyes red and her face pale, as her stomach began to spasm.
Jun Yuyan was so distressed he wished he could suffer in her place.
It took a while for Murong Jiu to recover, and without any strength, she nearly fell, but Jun Yuyan scooped her up and gently laid her on the bed.
Chun Tao was busy tidying up. Lying down with her eyes closed, Murong Jiu felt as if she were on a small boat in the midst of the sea, amidst surging waves and undercurrents, with waves crashing over and the endless darkness threatening to engulf her.
She quickly opened her unfocused eyes and instinctively grabbed Jun Yuyan’s hand.
“Don’t go, please, don’t leave.”
She didn’t want to sink to the bottom of the sea, didn’t want to be devoured by the darkness.
“I’m not going, Ah Jiu, I’m here with you,” he reassured her.
Murong Jiu couldn’t remember how she fell asleep, but when she awoke, the first thing she saw was Jun Yuyan’s magnified handsome face.
The scars on his face had faded considerably, leaving only a mark a little over an inch long. Although still noticeable, it no longer looked as frightening as before and did not detract from his noble and graceful features at all.
His eyes were tightly closed, his eyebrows thick, and his eyelashes long. There were slight shadows under his eyes, as if he hadn’t slept all night and had only just laid down.
Murong Jiu couldn’t bear to look away, fixated on the distinguished man before her.
Gradually, her consciousness returned, her cheeks slowly blushing, and she dared not even breathe too loudly.
Jun Yuyan, fully clothed, lay on his side next to her, facing her. Even her own quiet breathing seemed as though it could wake him.
Only then did she notice that Jun Yuyan still held one of her hands.
Her face, just turned away, flushed again in an instant.
“Ah Jiu, are you feeling better? Are you hungry?”
Jun Yuyan suddenly opened his eyes, his voice a bit hoarse and his eyes red with lack of rest, still blurry with sleep.
Murong Jiu hastily shook her head, “I’m fine now, not hungry. Did I wake you? You can go back to sleep.”
After speaking, she regretted it; this was her bed, and it was probably not appropriate for him to continue sleeping there.
Would he think she was being too forward?
Jun Yuyan glanced out the window, it was only just dawn, and nodded, “Alright, I’ll sleep a bit longer.”
With that, he closed his eyes again.
And his hand was still holding hers, never letting go.
Murong Jiu pursed her lips slightly, her heartbeat involuntarily quickening, and it took a long while for the tumultuous beating to calm. Meanwhile, the man beside her seemed very tired, already breathing evenly.
Though she had no desire to sleep, the scent of ambergris on him and the sound of his breathing felt hypnotic, as if lulled by them, she too began to feel sleepy, dozing off for a return to slumber with Jun Yuyan.
Just as she drifted off, Jun Yuyan opened his deep eyes and quietly watched her.
Jun Yuyan noticed, with him by her side, Ah Jiu seemed to sleep quite well.
