"Oh thank the Gods..."
Draka immediately doubled over and began to regulate her breathing as soon as we exited the Trial, the Dragonkin looking far paler than normal and definitely shinier than normal as her sweat slick skin glimmered in the light.
"What? Couldn't take the heat in there, little dragon~?"
Even though that was a goad to make her brandish her claws a little and growl out an argument, Draka was vastly different than us as she just nodded and said "I was honestly this close to pissing myself back there. Truthfully. That serpent headed thing was just..."
She shuddered and instantly made Mom's teasing grin turn wry as she mentally stumbled, the muscular Demoness unsure of what she was meant to do now that Draka had admitted to being absolutely terrified back there.
It wasn't wrong to be - and honestly we all were, at least to some degree - but the real test was how you faced the things that terrified you and if you could overcome them; she did, yes, but the staunchness of her 'courage' was duly noted now.
Again, nothing wrong with it, especially not when the futanari herself had admitted many a time on this journey that she was only here because Lilith had requested her presence here, but it was still such a stark contrast to us that none of us really knew what to do with her... Thankfully she didn't really seem to care about that at all as she eventually stood back upright and added "Yeah, I think I need a half day or so to just... not do that. Um... what did we get though? Wasn't it a few neat things..?"
The idea of treasure got her enthusiastic again though, and I had to hide my smile as I just imagined all Dragons being their stereotypical selves no matter what; she had so many riches back home and yet she was still yearning for even more here...
I knew it wasn't even the 'cooler' things like the bloodline purification array we had acquired or the all of those physical upgrades to our bodies; it was all of the stuff that really got her going, and to answer her question we all just looked down at our wrists, the weight suddenly registering in our minds.
A simple silver cuff bracelet with a diamond faceted into the middle dangled on our wrists, and upon closer inspection I could get a glimpse of the extremely bright, pearlescent mana that was woven into the material to form the enchantment.
And yet the runes that I saw were immediately forgotten the moment I looked away, making me groan in annoyance as I realized this was another of those sorts of things; like Leone's Summoning Magic or the items I purchased via the System, the magic here was unobtainable for us.
Even as I groaned though I looked towards Leone and realized we were thinking the same thing; this meant that the magic she had - that Summoning Magic - amongst some of the other things we had found were all somehow connected to the world 'above' ours.
That was why we were incapable of perceiving it; it came from an entirely different plane of existence than us, and likely it was so powerful that we simply couldn't retain the information lest we either damage our brains or it just wasn't something we could comprehend.
I was going with the former personally since the moment I saw the bracelet I seemed to understand how it worked - not from some guess that I could make from my prior 'knowledge', but instead from the bracelet itself, meaning it was capable of transferring information on its own.
If it was able to do that it only made sense it could take away information about itself as well, so now I was understanding a little more about this 'forbidden' magic we had our hands on now, and that was a step forwards.
Even if it was barely a micro step forwards into inky blackness; but a step is a step nonetheless, so I wasn't complaining nor was I panicking about having more questions now that I had answered a previous one.
Anyways, entering the space within the bracelet was relatively simple; placing a finger on top of that diamond, you imagined yourself opening a door and then... boom, you were 'in' a 'room' that was rather spacious.
Immediately I could see many different things within this 'room' of mine; there were chests overflowing with materials on one side, a rather large boulder on the other, and in the middle, resting atop a pedestal sat an ancient scroll.
The yellowed paper looked so fragile that I just didn't trust myself to touch it now, so instead I looked around and took stock of the space I had; it was about ten by ten and completely illuminated by that pearlescent mana that cast a rainbow glow everywhere, while the room itself was composed of a sleek, flawless white material.
A perfect cube of white that glowed random colors held chests filled with king's ransoms, a weird boulder of very strong ore, and then the scroll, leaving me with a lot of space to store more things and the immediate desire to start testing everything I could think of.
Could I construct things within the space itself using my mana, and if so did the mana persist forever?
What exactly could go into and come out of the space without sustaining damage; could I put a living thing in here, or would it need to be dead first, and would it decompose or remain in a suspended state?
Either way, I had so many new questions and so much curiosity that I couldn't wait to satiate, but for now we were all drawn back out after a few moments and instead focused on getting back to the others, wanting nothing more than to rest now that we had finished our group excursion.
For me that had an immediate understanding of what I was going to be doing and with whom; the glance at Leone all but confirmed what I was thinking, and I knew for certain that Jahi was going to agree immediately as well, so I was looking forwards to that.
