Xavier wanted to celebrate his win, but he couldn't; he could hear lightning blasts, meaning Sylve was still alive. Now, both of them could face Dragonborn.
Xavier still has his [War Buff] active as he dashed forward, Xavier's feet pounded against the ground as he sprinted forward, dust kicking up behind him.
His eyes locked on Sylve, who was on one knee, clutching her side. Her staff trembled in her hand, and blood stained the edge of her clothes.
Ahead, Dragonborn stood tall with a smirk, his staff raised and crackling with blue lightning. He didn't notice Xavier yet.
Sylve's vines tried to rise and hold Dragonborn back, but they were burned away by another crackling bolt of lightning that lit up the air with a loud zap!
Xavier was initially going for Dragonborn, but he was closer to Sylve, and he wanted Sylve alive more than anything; this way, she couldn't support him.
Xavier wasted no time as he used his [Wind Stride] to increase his speed running just above the ground.
She looked up, surprised to see him, her eyes wide and relief spread over her face.
Dragonborn finally turned, but it was too late.
Xavier appeared in a flash beside Sylve, grabbing her shoulder and pulling her back. At the same time, he threw up a barrier in front of them and dashed away from the barrier.
*BOOM!*
A wave of lightning smashed into the barrier. Cracks spread through it, and it shattered, but both of them were already some distance away.
Xavier gritted his teeth. "I've got you now."
Sylve coughed and smiled weakly. "Took you long enough…I knew you would win"
He helped her back to her feet and stepped in front of her as Sylve began healing her wounds, with Dragonborn relentlessly attacking, she couldn't heal her wounds before.
Dragonborn tilted his head, amused.
"Oh? I knew you would beat Tiger, the only thing he relies on is his brute strength, which wouldn't go a long way. You're fast, but you're still nothing compared to me."
Xavier didn't reply. His hand tightened on his sword as mana flowed into his limbs, his sense was still heightened as his [War Buff] was still active.
His body was surging with power, and immediately he dashed forward. He was first going to test without going all in; there was no use now, as Sylve still isn't back to her full strength.
Dragonborn aimed his staff and fired another bolt of lightning.
But Xavier moved.
He dashed left, the bolt missing him by an inch. He closed the gap in seconds, swinging his sword.
Dragonborn blocked with a magic shield, but Xavier had already begun the second swing. Wind burst from his sword, slamming into the shield and shattering it.
"Ohh..." The impact made Dragonborn stumble backward, surprised.
Xavier pressed on. He swung again, and this time his blade was wrapped in Mana, fast and sharp.
Dragonborn raised his staff and shouted, and immediately lightning burst from the ground.
Xavier jumped back, avoiding it, but it grazed his arm just a little as he dashed backwards.
The lightning created a line of defense around Dragonborn but Sylve had an idea as she stretched her staff forward.
Vines burst from the ground inside his lightning trying to grab Dragonborn's legs, he was too focused on Xavier to notice till the vine held his legs and dragged him out of his lightning defense.
Dragonborn immediately burned off the vines on his legs, but he was already outside, and Xavier wasn't going to let this opportunity go to waste as he dashed towards Dragonborn.
Xavier didn't stop.
His feet barely touched the ground as he dashed forward again, sword raised, eyes locked on Dragonborn.
His smirk was gone now, replaced by total focus. Xavier was so quick that Dragonborn couldn't strike first.
Xavier's blade came fast, a downward slash aimed straight at his chest.
*CLANG!*
Dragonborn raised his staff and blocked it just in time, but the impact sent a tremor through his hands, but both weapons were too powerful to break each other.
Xavier began pushing Dragonborn backwards, but he responded and shoved him back with a pulse of magic, like a mini shockwave, forcing Xavier to slide backward a few feet.
"You're faster than I expected," Dragonborn muttered as he jumped backwards creating space.
Xavier didn't answer. He sprinted again, slashing from the side this time. Dragonborn ducked, swinging his staff low, trying to trip him, but Xavier jumped over it and came down with a strike.
Lightning exploded beneath them but Xavier blocked with his sword and his body coated with Mana.
*BOOM!*
Both were blown apart in opposite directions. Xavier flipped in the air and landed on his feet, barely.
Dragonborn who cast the spell crashed into the dirt, rolled, and got back up with a wild laugh.
"This is getting interesting."
He slammed his staff into the ground. Arcs of lightning shot up around him in a circle, forming a spinning ring of electricity. S~eaʀᴄh the NôvelFire(.)net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
'Shit again' Xavier narrowed his eyes. He couldn't get close like this.
'Even with my [War Buff] he's still holding me back, but there's a lot of time before it's used up, I'm sure Sylve would have recovered some of her strength, I should try and get through'
Xavier held his sword in one hand and jumped on his toes twice before slowly walking forward.
Dragonborn born could see Xavier was not attacking and smiled, this time he wouldn't be caught by vines, this barrier he put up was just to buy some time for his actual plan.
He stretched his staff as he shot a bolt of lightning towards Xavier.
Xavier rolled aside just in time. The lightning spear hit the ground and exploded, sending rocks and dust flying.
Before the dust settled, Xavier was already moving. He dashed through the side, just outside the edge of the spinning lightning, and stretched his hands.
[Radiant Lance]
A bright light was created, and Dragonborn saw him too late, but he still tried to block the strike, only to get blasted from inside the lightning circle.
Dragonborn rolled on the ground before stopping and standing up but Xavier didn't rush in as Dragonborn stood up with a smile on his face.
"Finally, it's here
