Chapter 137 - 137: The farewell (4)- Blade Aura (2)

Theo was so focused on the blade and the after-effects it made around them that the baron had to wave his hand to get his attention.

When Theo looked at his face, he saw a confident smile on it, and the next moment, the baron pointed his finger toward the sky.

Theo looked at the finger for a second before looking up. His eyes widened, and a shiver ran down his spine instinctively.

'What…'

He had no words for what he was looking at. Just above them, toward the clouds, Theo saw a big line moving for many miles between the clouds.

His gaze fell on the blade again, which was not dissipating any steam anymore.

Theo knew in his mind that what happened was done in front of him. A sword was slashed forward in the air, and then a big chunk of the clouds was dissipated, making him see the clear blue sky above it.

He couldn't believe it, but it did happen in front of him.

SNAP

Theo came back to the baron, who was still smiling.

"That, is what a knight is, Theo. Always remember," he spoke in a deep voice.

Theo was already so shaken that he didn't even nod or respond to him.

Aldric kept his sword inside the scabbard again and went his way toward Theo, who was still looking at the clouds above.

He placed a hand on Theo's shoulder and patted it.

Theo felt the weight of that hand and the countless scars on it. He looked up at his father, his eyes as determined as before.

"Father,"

"Yes?"

"I want to learn that."

Both Rhys and the baroness looked toward him with a frown. The baron's smirk widened.

"Are you sure about that? I have not seen the talent of a sword in you till now. You might not be able to do it," the baron spoke, yet Theo did not waver.

"I don't care, I want to learn it," he spoke again. "No matter how long it takes, I will learn it. So, help me."

There was silence on the balcony for a moment. Even the wyvern looked at the father and son with a calm expression.

The baron kept a hand on his lips to hide his grin. He turned and looked at the baroness, who had a concerned expression on her face.

"Learning this will hinder your ability to work with your beast. Are you still okay with learning it? We are not joking anymore," he controlled himself and asked with the same seriousness he always showed him.

Theo thought about it for a few seconds. Sacrificing his training to help the mantis become strong, and in turn become strong himself, was what he had always wanted.

'The power I saw today came from a human. The same thing was done by Rhys... only weaker than Father... Not learning it would be like throwing away a golden opportunity…' he thought.

While there was flexibility in the Merrick Barony to choose your own profession and style of life, the Merricks were still a Barony of knights—one of the only in this region.

Not learning from the best when they were this close to him made Theo feel like it was a waste.

"I…" Theo tried speaking, yet he stopped midway. The baron waited patiently for the answer, and both Rhys and the baroness listened intently.

"I won't give up on fighting with my beast, Father," Theo stated with a confident expression.

The baron frowned, and his eyes squinted.

"I won't give up on this idea of being a knight, too," he stated again, making the baron look at him with an annoyed expression.

"I will progress in both," he said and took a deep breath. He was being greedy right now.

"That is impossible," the baron spoke in annoyance, yet there was this curiosity in his eyes too—Theo could see it.

"You have seen me do the impossible before. Why not let me try this time too?" The confidence on his face heightened; he knew it was the only way to get his father's approval.

The baron was a person who did not even entertain the idea of a weak will; Bram was the only exception.

"Are you serious right now? You think you can be a knight who uses aura and be a typical tamer at the same time? Do you think we are in a candy world, boy?"

The baron might have been amused by this idea, but still, Theo only realized right now that it could come out as disrespectful to all the knights.

He thought of a way to get out of this in a smart way but also get the opportunities he was looking for.

"I am just—"

"I will look after his knight training if you allow me."

Both the baron and Theo looked toward Rhys, who looked back at them with a sleepy face.

The baron frowned but didn't say anything.

"Father, I am trying to do something here. I know you don't think it's possible——"

"When did I say it's not possible? I have seen many do it before. Almost everyone fails miserably and remain average, some succeed and become something," the baron spoke with a snort.

"Then let me do it too," Theo stated quickly.

"That's…" the baron spoke but was at a loss for words when he saw the excitement and determination in his son's eyes.

"It's… Huuuuhhh fine, do whatever you want." In annoyance, the baron spoke and started walking back, leaving Theo looking at him in confusion. seaʀᴄh thё NovelZone.fun* website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Before he went out to the balcony, he stopped and looked back, "Geller, look after his basic knight training and see what he has to offer," he stated and looked at Theo with a serious face before moving back.

"THANK YOU, FATHER!" Theo was so excited that he shouted very loudly, realizing that a noble wasn't meant to do that.

As the baron walked alone through the corridor, a figure silently emerged behind him.

"Are you sure you will let him do this, master? You already know how this can end… We would never want to have an incident like that again,"

Aldric kept moving forward. A light smile appeared on his face before he responded, "THAT will never happen with my son, I will make sure of that as long as I live. My son is capable of everything, Alfred. You will see one day. He is worth every single gamble.
